SONNET is the cochlear implant audio processor for the SYNCHRONY cochlear implant system. It is a waterproof BTE audio processor equipped with the latest MED-EL technologies such as Automatic Sound Management 2.0*.
Is SONNET waterproof?
Yes. SONNET is IP54 rated, meaning it's protected from sweat, rain and general humidity. Additionally, WaterWear is an available accessory for the SONNET that provides a waterproof cover to keep your audio processor dry during water activities. With these accessories, you can swim in the sea, snorkel in the lake or just sit by the pool while enjoying your hearing carefree. WaterWear is also available for OPUS 2 and RONDO.
What's new in Automatic Sound Management 2.0?
The automatic sound management contains new processing functions. These are:

How small is SONNET?

How many colors does SONNET have?
The audio processor is available in 6 different colors: black, white, anthracite, beige, ebony and Nordic grey. The interchangeable microphone covers and battery covers are available in 9 additional colors: Sienna Brown, Cream, Burgundy Red, Pacific Blue, Orange, Green, Baby Pink, Baby Blue and Cool Grey. In addition, skins are available for SONNET so you can create your own custom look.
Which spiral cables are there?
There are three different cord lengths including 8.5cm, 11cm and 28cm. The cables are available in black, beige, Nordic gray and white.
How should I maintain SONNET?
As with other CI audio processors, there are a few things you can do to ensure your SONNET is running at its best. Although the SONNET is water resistant, it's always a good idea to clean it after exposure to water, as water can wet the microphones and affect their efficiency. Plus, daily use of the included drying kit will help ensure any remaining moisture is removed. Finally, SONNET includes removable microphone covers, which we recommend changing every 3 months with normal use.

Is the magnet removable?
Yes. In the rare instances where magnet removal is preferred or required, the SYNCHRONY CI Magnet can be surgically removed from the implant. A non-magnetic spacer can be inserted into the implant for use during the scan and reinserted after the MRI is complete.
What is a "PIN"?
The SYNCHRONY CI is available in two versions, with and without a PIN. PINs are just that: pins made of the same titanium that houses the electronic part of the IC, giving the implant even more stability. The choice of using a SYNCHRONY PIN is the responsibility of the surgeon.
How small is the SYNCHRONY IC?

How waterproof is "waterproof"?

How to use WaterWear?
